Kozminski Innovators Meetup – let’s talk about your start-up

Do you have a start-up that you want us to hear about? Or maybe you’re keen to get some tips to help you develop your venture further? Or is it even different – your business idea is just taking shape and you want to discuss it with someone competent?

We have found that emails are not enough in these situations. Nothing can replace a good conversation. So, we would like to invite you to a conversation. How about it?

The project that started with you

Kozminski Innovators Meetup is a project that wouldn’t exist without our community. We know that you are enthusiastic and eager to take your own initiative. We see this in the number of messages you send us to present your projects. You don’t wait to be recruited for accelerator programs because you know that the perfect moment doesn’t exist. We want to appreciate it properly.

That’s why, as part of Kozminski Innovators Meetup, we will be organising regular online meetings where you talk about your startups to one of our mentors and hear their opinion.

Why take part?

A free meeting with a KBH expert is a chance to receive:

  • feedback on what you are involved in,
  • an individual proposal from us for your startup,
  • tips that will give your venture a boost.

Expect also nice side effects such as:

  • greater confidence in action after expert feedback,
  • gaining experience in business discussions
  • and, of course, a mass of new ideas.

How to join the Kozminski Innovators Meetup?

Let’s meet if you are running a startup or already have a well-thought-out concept to talk about. To apply, fill out this questionnaire. Once you’ve signed up and sent in your answers, you’ll receive an email offering you a meeting date. Yes, that’s it!

Kozminski Innovators Meetup talks will take place on one day at the end of each month. Applications for a given month close on the Monday preceding the appointed day of meetings or when the limit of places is exhausted. Therefore, it is not worth delaying your registration.

In the event that you do – there is no harm. Our questionnaire collects responses all the time. Sometimes we will just be able to offer you an appointment only the following month.

Is there any preparation needed for the talk?

The interview with our mentor will have two stages.

  1. We will ask you to present your startup/concept in any form: e.g. with slides in the background or just orally. This part can last up to 15 minutes.
  2. Our expert will share his or her opinion with you, perhaps suggest something.

Of course, the stages are not rigid in any way. There will be room for free conversation.

And a form of preparation for the meeting will certainly already be for you to fill in our questionnaire.

We look forward to your participation in the Kozminski Innovators Meetup. Therefore, fill in the questionnaire and let's arrange an interview.

Startup Impact Program

Category: Ekosystem rozwoju

Startup Impact Program is our special accelerator program. Together with our partner Żabka Group, we have already conducted its two editions. The venture focuses on providing support to young companies that work towards positive change.

We are looking for startups that work in the areas of several UN Sustainable Development Goals selected for a given edition, e.g. reducing the carbon footprint, improving the well-being of children and young people, developing entrepreneurship.

The program consists of a competition and an acceleration phase. At the beginning, we collect applications, get to know the activities of the selected startups, and then a panel of judges selects the companies that will participate in the acceleration.

The winners of the Startup Impact Program receive substantive support from Kozminski Business Hub experts and the opportunity to test their solutions in the Żabka Group environment. The testing path is individually tailored to each of the young companies in order to best develop their potential.

Find out more about each of the past editions below.

What kind of startups are we looking for?

Reducing the environmental footprint

Solutions for capturing and neutralizing carbon dioxide from the air.

Solutions to increase energy efficiency

Solutions for innovative and low-carbon refrigeration of food products

Innovative methods to reduce food waste in the value chain.

New packaging for hot drinks, plastic-free, environmentally neutral and customisable.

Solutions for quickly and innovatively restoring or scaling up the protection of precious natural ecosystems and tackling deforestation.

If so – we certainly want to meet you!

Apply if:

You already have a prototype of your services and/or products. This could be an MVP - a minimal version of your product that can be tested.

You have a defined target audience - you know whose problems your startup solves and to whom you want to target your communication.

Why develop under our wings?

The Żabka Group was established at the beginning of 2021 and includes Żabka Polska –  the largest business unit, focusing on the retail area, Żabka Future responsible for new investments, business development and technological tools, and Strategic Leadership – three teams responsible for setting the direction of development of the entire Group by building consumer, personnel and financial strategies. The Żabka Group also includes Maczfit, a leader in the diet catering market in Poland, and Dietly.pl, a leading e-commerce platform in this segment.

The Group’s goal is to create and combine convenient and responsible convenience solutions that make everyday life easier for customers. The Group develops its social and environmental responsibility activities strategically, integrating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors into its business strategy.

As part of its responsibility strategy, the Żabka Group has made commitments in the areas of good nutrition, services that facilitate sustainable living, entrepreneurial development, diversity and inclusive organizational culture, corporate governance, and decarbonization and circularity, among others.

KBH, established at Kozminski University, organises an ecosystem of innovation support. The company has been educating entrepreneurs and supporting new and promising businesses for many years.

The KBH acceleration program invariably enjoys great interest. Until now, there have been 4 editions of the program, to which several dozens of startups have applied each time. During each edition, participants had the support of a wide range of mentors. In total, 50 experts from various fields worked in the acceleration program.

Every year KBH creates a report Startups of Positive Impact containing experts’ statements about Polish positive impact ecosystem, detailed descriptions of activities of the most interesting startups in a given year and information on initiatives supporting this movement in Poland.

The report "Positive Impact Startups. Radical Social Innovation"

2019

First edition of the SPW Report 2019

“Positive Impact Startups. Radical Social Innovation” is a description that opens a new area in business.”

We are dealing in Poland with the beginning of a major change in the entrepreneurship market in the context of social responsibility and challenges formulated in the form of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are socially innovative start-ups, implementing business models generating economic and social benefits simultaneously, usually created by young people. The motivation of the founders is often personal, but also driven by the expectations of the market – users as well as large business and institutional partners, and by legislative changes that create new opportunities.

2020

Second edition of the SPW 2020 Report

“Positive Impact Startups. Radical Social Innovation” is another sketch for a portrait of a phenomenon that is attracting increasing interest worldwide.”

We live in a time of breakthrough and at the same time great uncertainty. Therefore, it is worthwhile to have a good understanding of the new wave of positive business, which combines many streams, coming from different sources. In the face of the coming changes, we should take care of at least four pillars in business: passion – which must accompany all explorations; positive impact – because only this now justifies our activity; deep innovation – necessary at the level of models, processes and systems; and finally responsibility – which, like a moral compass, will ensure the right direction.

Ranking of Positive Impact Startups

The second, independent part of the Ranking of Responsible Companies is the “Ranking of Responsible Companies – Startups of Positive Impact”. The selection is made by a separately appointed Panel of Positive Characters consisting of opinion leaders from the startup and social environment on the basis of developed criteria. This compilation is an element of the process of creating a positive impact ecosystem at Kozminski University, within the Kozminski Business Hub, which is a cross-sector consortium of partners for the support and development of positive impact entrepreneurship in Poland. The Ranking of Responsible Companies and Positive Impact Startups is an important element of the implementation of the Sustainable Transformation Strategy of Kozminski University.
